- Academic Integrity & Plagiarism Tutorial Instructions Handout This handout describes how to access Durham Tech's online tutorial in Canvas. The tutorial has eight lessons, divided into smaller sections. After completing these lessons, you should be able to describe in your own words what academic integrity, academic dishonesty, and plagiarism mean; explain unintentional plagiarism, self-plagiarism and how procrastination can lead to plagiarism; tell the difference between common knowledge and "expert" knowledge, understand how to cite, quote, paraphrase, and more. At the end of all the lessons, there is a short assessment in which you can demonstrate what you have learned. When you score at least 80 points (out of 100) on the final assessment, you can obtain your certificate of completion.
