Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This guide provides Durham Tech students and staff with some important resources regarding Artificial Intelligence and machine learning tools.

What is ChatGPT?

  • ChatGPT is a Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) a large language learning computer model, which creates many types of human-like responses to questions. It was released by a company known as OpenAI, which has several AI-powered products available online now.
    • The core version of ChatGPT does not have knowledge of current events. It was "trained" on data which can be updated over time.

  • ChatGPT is not a true "Artificial Intelligence" in the way most people think of them from science-fiction stories. It attempts to answer every appropriate question the best it can, even if it has to produce false information to do so.

  • Google's Bard and Microsoft's Bing are other examples of GAI chatbot technology.
