Welcome to the Durham Tech Library's Information Technology Research Guide!

This guide provides just a taste of what the library offers to support students in CIS, CSC, CTI, CTS, DBA, NET, NOS, SEC and WEB classes. You'll also find some helpful websites for learning how to code, meeting other IT professionals or finding a job!

Living in the Triangle area provides many opportunities to work in information technology. While you're in school, consider joining a Meetup.

Meetup.com is a website that people use to schedule events around specific interests. Local Meetups in information technology* include groups for C++ developers; aspiring IT professionals; Java, Linux or Drupal users and others. Once you land on the meetup.com page, search for keywords such as Linux.

*The meetup.com groups that show up when you click this link will be near Durham, NC. To find Meetups in a different place, you can enter the name of a city or ZIP code.

Many textbooks are on reserve at the Durham Tech Library. This means that you can check them out at the library circulation desk for two hours at a time, but the books have to stay in the library.

To see whether your textbooks are on reserve, use the library catalog to Lookup Items on Reserve. You can enter your course number (for example, "CIS 110"), name of the reserve desk (e.g., "Durham Reserve Desk"), and click the "Lookup Items on Reserve by Course Number" button.

Below you can peruse a selection of information technology books recently purchased by the library. Be sure to check our New Books display near the main library desk if you do not find your book in its permanent shelving location.
