Library Tech Tools

Technology and technology tools available for checkout in the Durham Tech Library.

A Huge THANK YOU! to our Grant Funders

Financing for the tech tools and Chromebooks was generously provided by the Durham Tech Foundation's 2021 Mini-Grants Program  and the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-246155-OLS-20).

We are endlessly grateful for these partners that allowed us to purchase this equipment for our college community.

How long can I check items out?

Great question!

Most items check out for 2 weeks. HOWEVER, if you have a project that you're working on with a deadline beyond 2 weeks, let us know and we can discuss extending the checkout time. We are not currently checking out items for an entire semester.

You're always welcome to return and check items out again if there isn't a waitlist.

Will the Library help me use the technology?

At this time, the Library can provide the technology and space for recording, but cannot provide support.

Every item includes a user manual for self-supported learning.

For Chromebook help, check out the Center for Academic Excellence's resources on the Chromebook Borrowing tab.

Need an in-library space to record?

Ask!

We have several study rooms available and also will have a new dedicated space that is available for recording later in the semester (reservation system and more information coming soon!), available for both students and faculty/staff.

Technology Borrower's Agreement Form

In order to request or check out technology or tech accessories from the Durham Tech Library, users must fill out a Technology Agreement form. If the technology or tech accessory is lost, broken, or not returned, users will be charged replacement costs.

Getting a Library Card

Tech Tools are only available for currently enrolled Durham Tech students and current faculty and staff.

A library account can either be made by going to any Durham Tech Library location during open hours or by filling out the Online Registration Form for Current Durham Tech Students.

A photo ID (preferably your Durham Tech ID) is necessary to check out items and to complete registration for your library account.

Do you charge late fees?

Not right now. The only items the Durham Tech Library currently charges late fees for are Reserve items (textbooks, American Heart Association manuals, DVDs for classes).

We will charge replacement costs for damaged or unreturned items, as per the required tech agreement form. A bill on your student account can prevent you from registering for classes, graduating, or sending transcripts.

We'd prefer you just bring things back.
